In 2011 FryFest honored one of the worlds biggest bad-asses
FRY fest is a one day ‘Celebration of all that is Hawkeye’ to kick-off the Hawkeye athletic seasons the Friday before the first home football game.
In 2011 FRY fest honored legendary Iowa Wrestling coach Dan Gable. The Hawkeyes won 21 consecutive Big Ten Championships, and 15 NCAA Championships in Gable’s 21 years as head coach.

Olympic Wrestling Trials Program
The U.S. Men's and Women's Freestyle, and Men's Greco Olympic Wrestling Trials were held in Iowa City in 2012.
Athletes competed for spots on the 2012 US Olympic team in men’s and women’s freestyle and greco-roman wrestling.
Unfortunately, the International Olympic Committee recently recommended dropping wrestling from the 2020 olympics. A final decision will be made in May 2013.
